DAISY
is the next generation of digital talking books providing
synchronized text and recorded spoken word. This technology
enables print disabled persons to play talking books with
the added benefit of chapter, page, heading and phrase level
navigation. In addition to book navigation, eClipseReader
incorporates study tools that enables students to take
notes, create multiple bookmarkers that can be saved and
later reviewed. The eClipseReader
unique user interface can be customized for both blind users
preferring a key board interface and an simple graphic

Unique User Interface: Fully accessible Graphic and
Hotkey controls including a color-coded, self-voicing
graphic toolbar for sighted users as well a simple
keyboard commands for the blind and visually impaired
readers. Easy customization allows the user to hide or
show graphic tools and to change the font size for the
table of contents and menus to suit your individual
needs.

Self Voicing application: All UI
features and dialog boxes are fully self-voicing. A recorded
natural voice announces menu items, graphic tool bars, and
buttons controls. Audio tool tips include hotkey
descriptions, which serve as a built-in tutor to greatly
reduce the operational learning curve. eClipseReader's
self-voicing controls can be disabled to assist screen
reader compatibility.

Basic Navigation: Right from
the get-go, you can begin reading a DAISY 2.02 digital
talking book with ease. eClipseReader's basic navigation
feature makes use of four arrow keys on your PC's keyboard
to select a navigation mode; Level 1 headings (Chapter), All
headings, Pages, Markers, and text block and then explores
the talking by the selected mode.
Advanced Navigation Methods:
Hotkeys and button controls conveniently navigate to the
previous or next heading, page, phrase and bookmark and
navigation history. In addition, a Go To feature allows
randomly access to page numbers and markers. The table of
contents gives instant access to any heading through either
the mouse click or arrow keys and visually tracks reading
position.

Command
Center: This area of the user interface contains
three control modules for navigating between and among
books. The Books Module provides a convenient way to
open any book from your personal library. The Table of
Contents both lets you easily navigate by any heading
level and displays where you are in a book. The
Markers Module lists all bookmarks and notes,
providing quick access to both a note and its position
in the book. One of the great advantages of the
Command Center is that it shares the screen with the
book’s text, so neither one interferes with using or
viewing the other.

Books
Library: Add a title to your personal library and
its path to its storage location on your hard drive or
network in a single keystroke. The books library
provides instant access to your books, markers and
notes.

Markers window: This
feature provides a list of your bookmarks and notes
that can be navigated by mouse click or arrow keys.

Toolbar
View Mode: eClipseReader can operate in a
minimized view mode sharing screen space with your
favorite PC applications. This mode allows users
access to all toolbars, navigation features, and
status information while operating other applications
and listening to a talking book in the background.

SAPI Text To Speech: A built-in
screen reader voices text content such as notes, book
information, current position in the book, and a file tree
used for finding books on the computer.
CD Auto Load: When a DAISY disc is
inserted into the CD tray, the program automatically loads
the book.
Supports Multi-Disc Books: The
player manages books that span more than one disc without a
hitch. It prompts you to insert the proper disc for the
desired spot in the book and goes right there when you feed
it the disc. When you load a multi-disc book on the hard
drive in separate folders, and add each disc to the books
module library, eClipseReader navigates among multi-books
automatically.
Auto Play: eClipseReader
automatically starts playing the book’s audio as soon as
it is opened. Users who prefer to manually begin playback
can disable this feature in user preferences.
Auto bookmark: The
program remembers your last position in each book and goes
straight there the next time you open a book.
Volume and Speed Controls: That
allows each user to adjust volume and playback speed
settings.
Bookmarks
and Notes: A single powerful tool lets users
insert multiple markers that can range from simple
flags to lengthy notes. These markers can be navigated
in several convenient ways.

Searching for books: The
Browse My Computer feature provides a way to find books on
local and network drives. Your selection can be added to the
books library for future reference and instant access.

Book
Information: This dialog presents the
bibliographical information for the current book as
well as a variety of other data number of pages and
playback time.

Current Position: The Go to
Page feature presents your current position in a book by
page number and provides method of random navigation through
page number entry.
Navigation History: This
feature tracks your navigation history as you explore a
Digital book. At any time, you may trace your steps backward
or forward in navigation history.
Fast Forward & Rewind: A
predictable fast-forward and rewind feature jumps your
position in a digital book in ten second increments using a
single key stroke. Holding down the fast-forward or rewind
keys emulates the rewind or fast forward function of your
tape player.

Preference
Settings for Multiple Users: The Multi-User Mode
enables multiple individuals who use the program on a
single computer to save their personal library,
bookmarks, and notes, as well as a variety of behavior
and appearance settings such as font size and playback
speed. Multi-User Mode management is password
protected enabling a parent or teacher to control
access to this powerful features setup and
configuration.

Talking Installer: The
installation program audibly guides the user through all
steps of the application installation process. It also
checks for system components and installs all utilities
required to support eClipseReader’s operation.
Help Systems: The user’s manual,
a quick orientation guide, and a list of all hot keys are
all presented in DAISY format with full audio and
navigation.
